| Land: Brown anoles are native to Cuba and the Bahamas Adult Size: Brown anoles are slender lizards, reaching about 18cm in length Appearance: Brown anole males and females differ somewhat in coloration: males have a dark stripe down their backs, females a light stripe. Male has brightly colored throat fan, which is yellow or reddish-orange. Diet: Brown anoles eat flies, crickets, mealworms, wax worms, butterworms, small grasshoppers, will eat a honey fruit mixture Ease of Care: Brown anoles are easy for a novice/beginner Habitat: Brown anoles prefer a day temp 82-86F, night temp 75-80F, substrate of potting soil and washed play sand mix, leaves, orchard bark. Needs well planted tank with branches for climbing. Drink: Brown anoles drink water, mist twice a day, and use drip system. Sleeping Habits: They are active during the day and come nighttime they climb on to branch or leaf and go to sleep. Temperament: They do not like to be touched it causes stress to them which causes them to become sick.Also they have a strong bite for a small lizard. However there jaw is extremely delicate so be careful. Breeding: Eggs are laid 2 at a time, buried in moist soil, sometimes several times a year. |
