Native to: The Moloch is Native to Australia. Adult Size: The adult Moloch is typically about 7 to 9 inches from snout to the tip of the tail. Moloch Appearance: They are red,orange,yellow, and cream. They have thorns covering their bodies, which led to the nickname thorny devil. Moloch Diet: The Moloch eats 1,000 to 2,000 ants a day. It drinks the dew it collects on its back. Ease of care: Once removed from its natural habitat the Moloch slowly dies. Also Australia does not allow the export of any of its wildlife which means it is impossible to own a Moloch. Habitat: They live in Arid areas such as Deserts. You will only find them in sandy soil never rocky. Drink: They drink the dew that collects in the cracks on their back which drains to their mouth. Moloch Breeding: Mating occurs around August and September. Females lay 3 to 10 eggs in a burrow in which they dig with their hind feet over the course of several days. The eggs hatch in 3 to 4 months. |
